Dr. Bernd-Uwe Sevin (German), Oncologist/Surgeon, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL placed two layers of Dura Mater to repair my umbilical hernia. He also used it to repair my friend who had herniated twice before because mesh wouldn't hold. I had also had previous surgery to repair umbilical hernia using mesh but it didn't hold. I don't know if he is still using Dura Mater but if he is, mine is still holding my hernia since 1997.
