Adhesions are something that can be common in the healing process, but then again some people don't get them at all.  Some people may get them and they never cause problems, some get them and do have major problems. There are so many variables. A lot of us that have adhesions have had other things that have contributed to them say Endometriosis. And of course having to have a lot of surgeries??   Having worked as and Operating Nurse for years. There are many surgeons especially if they know your prone to them who will put something in. Sometimes though some of the barriers themselves cause problems, and although they can help they can make things worse, especially if the surgeon putting them in is not as experienced in the use of different barriers. Even in the best of situations, our bodies are going to do what their going to do. Heal right or heal wrong. As far as suing a surgeon for this, my opinion is it would most likely never get anywhere. I don't think there are many surgeons out there who would intentionally try to make a person worse. Adhesions as I said form in the healing process. I'm not saying there aren't surgeons out there that maybe shouldn't be doing what they are doing.  My opinion is if you have major adhesion problems is to go to a specialist that deals with them on a regular basis. I won't let anyone else touch me, because of being prone to them.(Of course unless it was a complete emergency,) even then I would make every effort to fly to Pa where my surgeon is.nI doubt and surgeon who in good faith decided to put in barrier or not put in barrier, has reasons.(I've had my fair share of problems with the barriers themselves also, but not near as bad with the newer ones.) Also I'm one who doesn't just like to sue, to sue, it just runs our health care cost up, And doesn't solve the problem. Long answer, but maybe it will help.
