Hey, Tramadol is an anti-inflammatory.  Kind of like a "souped-up ibuprofen".  It works great.  But if you are prone to ulcers..be careful.  It will  bother them.  Hope this helps   Christina   In a message dated 8/8/2009 12:43:45 P.M. has anyone here had experience with long term use of tramadol? It is helping to reduce pain and I have very few side effects.  Opiates make me ITCH and tramadol is a synthetic opiate, not rated as a narcotic and is much easier on my overall health, so far, than any other pain med I have used.

I white-nuckled it through the last 6 month long pain episode leading up to last surgery.  Surgery was only 3 1/2 months ago and it is too soon for another.  I just can't get through without some pharmacutical help this time.
