This is a question that my father just this past weekend.

He has not know about my illness - (I'm only 36 and have had this for 15 years) It was something I only shared with my grandmother... I have no idea why - it was a personal choice not to burden my family with something there are so few answers toooo.

during our conversation - (he had reviewed the entire adhesions.org site and some other research I emailed him to get him started for our conversation) he told me that at just his last drs. appointment they had discussed a pulling pain he has at the site of his appendectomy...

I never knew!! and also that he has some bowel issues from time to time...

Our family always depended on gram as the info source so we are having to pull it together and talk to each other now - oh the things I have learned since her death almost 3 years ago!!!

He doesn't share the allergies but he is in the second generation of 3 that i can find in our family... I have the latex allergy that most of you name - but my others are mushrooms, ibuprofen, codiene, buspar, prozac, cymbalta and dilantin. I have no metal allergies.

my step mom asked the same question of if it's genetic - but I haven't found anything declarative of this as fact.

I too am allergic to Nickle, Latex, Silicone, Adhesive hospital tape,

Morphine, Demerol, Benadryl, Dilaudid, and Hydrocodone.

When i am in the hospital I am allergic to all of these pain meds.  They

tell me they would give Benadryl for people allergic. But I can't take

benadryl. I would rather suffer the allergic reactions then be in pain.

Every time I go in my choice of pain meds gets smaller and smaller. I really

don't know what will be left for me for the pain.
