It's no surprise that the general public doesn't know about adhesions.
With doctors being so unwilling to even discuss them with patients it
just figures. So no empathy or sympathy is ever forthcoming when I tell
others the cause for my GI issues, no matter how hard I try to explain
them. Only another adhesion sufferer (that is, a patient who KNOWS
about adhesions because I'm sure many sufferers don't know about it
themselves!)could possibly understand or someone very close to them.
They always assume it's my fault- a lack of fiber or whatever.
Did anyone hear about the story over on the EndoTimes blogspot recently?
They are saying that a patient's adhesions showed up on a barium
swallow. I wanted to believe it but others I've mentioned it to say no
way, including some who have had barium swallows themselves. I can see
a barium swallow showing a twisted small bowel but not the adhesions
causing it on the outside. Would've been nice if it could have been
true though!
