Chronic pelvic pain patients should continue to have available an important treatment option - adhesiolysis - after the International Adhesions Society (IAS) recently obtained an agreement with the authors of a government-sponsored report to revise its language which may otherwise lead to the denial of adhesiolysis and even laparoscopy as treatment options. In its own analysis published today, the IAS highlights statistical and other flaws not considered by the government-sponsored report which may leave a patient or surgeon with the mistaken impression that adhesiolysis does not benefit chronic pelvic pain and should not be performed at all.
