Hi Helen,

Yes I have had those symtoms and I do have Crohn's. As well as the chronic diarrhea I have had intestinal bleeding and fevers, elevated white blood cell counts, and a general feeling of having the flu. My last active episode left me with diarrhea for over three months. I am still working on finding the right diet for me (with help from all of you on the forum) and may explore an elimination diet to try and track down all the foods that cause me problems. I know fiber is one, but there are other combinations of foods that make me feel much worse and I can't pinpoint what is going on yet. She indicates that she has IBD which is either Crohn's or ulcerated colitis. If her doctor's have diagnosed IBD, they should have been able to tell her which it is as I assume to confirm an IBD diagnosis they did a colonoscopy or other test. Ulcerative colitis only attaacks the colon and can be easier to find. Crohn's on the other hand can attack any part of the GI tract and can move around. (Part of the reason it took so long for them to find it) It sounds a lot like Crohn's to me as Crohn's can cause a multitude of other problems outside the GI system as well. As I posted earlier, I also have adhesions, but I think we are going to treat the Crohn's with medication and explore a pain clinic for the other pain, as it can be caused by adhesions or Crohn's (in particular the arthritis that will go hand in hand with Crohn's). I hope this has been some help. If she would like to contact me direct let me know and I will provide you with an email or street address. Ginny.
