While my doctor is a gynecologist, he is also an obstetrician and he clearly suspected endo but hesitated on attempting anything else. He basically does not have the expertise to do the necessary things in surgery. He basically told me that he doesn't want touch the adhesions - I think its out of a league. On one hand, I feel he should have been more aggressive, on the other hand, do you want someone operating on areas that he is not sure of? What we have to understand is that just because you are going to an ob/gyn, doesn't mean he has enough expertise to treat you surgically. I suspect that's why most doctors give hormones.
