Hi Peggy:
According to the dictionary, one of the definitions of a "Forum" is "an
assembly, place, radio program, for the discussion of public matters or
questions" also "an opportunity for open discussion." That is the way I
would think a forum should be used, although not necessarily entirely.
It is an opportunity for *discusion*. Discussion is going to involve
both negative and positive aspects. It is possible to do this without
attacking a participant personally, which is not good. A support group
provides support, which I believe is a little different. A forum can
but a forum can lso be a support group. This is my criticism of the
adhesion forum. There is some discussion on it but many are quick to
point out when that discussion takes a negative turn as if that is bad.
I don't agree with a lot of what Igor says, especially the part about
doing it all alone. If you feel like discussing it with him, fine. If
it really bothers you, remain silent. (hopefully too many would not do
that, or it is not a forum anymore)But do not ban such comments as Igor
has made or you lose a very valuable aspect of the forum.
