PLEASE NOTE - I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS TO SEPARATE PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN COMMENTS. MY CURRENT COMMENTS/QUESTIONS ARE WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS. I MUST ALSO EXPLAIN THAT I HAVE A MEDICAL BACKGROUND AS FAMILY NURSE PACTITIONER - MASTER OF SCIENCE IN NURSING - WITH EXPERIENCE IN RESEARCH - SO MY COMMENTS ARE NOT JUST MY OPIONION - BUT ARE SCIENTIFICALLY BASED.

I hope I don't come across as being totally illerate about these things but I really would like to more about them. From what I do know - I don't see anything here that would necessarily be of harm - it is my opinion that there has got to be a happy medium between conventional medicine as we know it and the natural/organic alternative treatments.

NO - CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN NEW PHARMACEUTICAL REMEDIES FOR ADHESIONS SUFFERERS. PHYSICAL THERAPY, LOW RESIDUE DIET, RESTORING DAILY BOWEL FUNCTION ECT.. ARE NON-PHARMACEUTICAL INTERVENTIONS THAT CAN HELP AS WELL.

WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR DATA FOR THIS STATEMENT? THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO RESEARCH WHATSOEVER THAT SUPPORTS THIS.

AT FIRST FORMATION - ADHESIONS (IN VARYING DEGREES) ARE VERY STRONG BANDS OF SCAR TISSUE BUT AS TIME PASSES - THE BANDS GET SOFTER, THINNER AND MORE PLIABLE. SO TIME RATHER THAN SURGERY SEEMS TO BE THE BETTER OPTION UNTIL THE FORMATION OF ADHESIONS CAN BE PREVENTED OR THE PATIENT HAS TOTALLY OBSTRUCTED AND CANNOT BE RESOLVED WITH NON-SURGICAL METHODS.

CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE ALONG WITH ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE BOTH ADVOCATE MAINTANING GOOD HEALTH - IT IS BETTER TO PREVENT ILLNESS THAN TO TREAT IT. HOWEVER CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE AS WELL AS ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT ENCOURAGE MANY OF THE THINGS ON YOUR LIST SUCH AS REST, SLEEP, HEALTHY DIET WITH SUPPLIMENTS INCLUDING ANTIOXIDENTS, REDUCING STRESS LEVELS (THROUGH DEEP BREATHING, RELAXATION, PRAYER, BIO-FEEDBACK ETC) USING MOIST HEAT TO HELP RELIEVE PAIN AND INCREASE CIRCULATION, AND MAINTAINING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE (ONCE A PERSON LOSES ALL HOPE - ITS ALL OVER FOR THEM).

I KNOW THE EFFECT OF MOIST HEAT. COLD APPLIED IMMEDIATELY AFTER AN INJURY HELPS WITH PAIN AND SWELLING BUT WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF COLD WATER AFFUSION?

MEDICAL TREATMENTS FOR BOWEL OBSTRUCTION ARE AT THE VERY LEAST - HARSH IF NOT DOWN RIGHT TORTURE. I TOO HAVE HAD TO ENDURE THE NG TUBE THROUGH THE NOSE NO LESS THAN 3 TIMES. BUT SADLY IT WAS THE LESSER OF 2 EVILS - IT WAS EITHER THE TUBE OR CONTINOUS VOMITING OF GASTIC CONTENTS BECAUSE OF THE OBSTRUCTION PREVENTING FLUIDS TO FLOW THROUGH THE GI SYSTEM NORMALLY. SURGERY WAS THE LAST THING I WANTED BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO DIE FROM GANGRENE OF THE BOWEL EITHER - SO AGAIN - I CHOSE THE LESSER OF THE TWO EVILS - SURGERY. YES - THE ADHESIONS ARE BACK AND AT TIMES I SUFFER FROM WHAT I WOULD DESCRIBE AS SUICIDAL LEVELS OF PAIN. I DON'T LIKE HAVING TO TAKE MEDICINE - BUT I DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITH THAT LEVEL OF PAIN EITHER - SO BESIDES THE NON-PHARMACEUTICAL METHODS OF PAIN RELIEF I IMPLEMENT - I ALSO WILL TAKE A MEDICATION TO GET THE PAIN BACK DOWN TO A MORE TOLERABLE LEVEL.

OBVIOUSLY THE MORE HEALTHY YOU ARE - THE STRONGER YOUR BODY WILL BE - AND YOU WILL BE MORE ABLE TO FIGHT OFF OR DEAL WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS. WHICH IS THE POINT I THINK YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE. MOST OF THE STEPS YOU LIST ARE GOOD FOR EVERYBODY AND GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH STATE. I, HOWEVER, WANT TO KNOW FROM OTHERS WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME TYPE HEALTH PROBLEMS I AM, WHAT SPECIFICALLY HAVE THEY TRIED FOR THIS AND WHAT THEY HAVE FOUND THAT WORKS. WHAT WORKS FOR ONE PERSON MAY OR MAY NOT WORK FOR ANOTHER. THEREFORE I KEEP TRYING DIFFERENT THINGS AND IF IT HELPS - GREAT - IF NOT - I KEEP LOOKING.

AGAIN - I AM GLAD THAT THE STEPS YOU HAVE IMPLEMENTED HAVE WORKED FOR YOU - BUT FOR ME AND SOME OF THE OTHERS HERE - THEY ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH - AND I WILL CONTINUE MY SEARCH FOR ADDITIONAL WAYS TO HELP ME BE AS WELL AND PAIN-FREE AS I CAN BE - SO THAT I CAN HAVE A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE THAN I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST.
