Karen, thank you for replying. I am so sorry you are having such a time getting meds!!!! Do you have a system there entitled: "Dial Doctors" or something like that? (It is an organization that has a list of doctors for you to contact if you do not have one.) If you do, call them and ask if they can recommend a Pain Management Clinic you can go to. Make sure they take your type of insurance, and that the doctor(s) that treat you are also in your insurance plan. If you do not have a resource like that, then call the AMA or look for Anesthesia doctors because they are actually the ones that do all of these procedures. You may even want to drop by any hospital in your area and get some info on their doctors.

With regard to the procedure my PMdr wants me to do, I am striking out on the net for an actual article about "hypogastric plexus block". They talk about everything BUT that. All I have to go by is what the dr gave me to read -- a mere 3/4s of a page. Also, I received my pump when I participated in a drug study program called SNX-111 by the company Nurex (sp?). When I failed the study, they drew out the study drug and replaced it with morphine. No, I am not even close to help from the drug. Even they are reluctent to prescribe enough to really help. The part I don't understand is, morphine and the like were specifically designed for acute, intractable pain; therefore, why aren't they using it on us? They prolong our agony, listen to our crys, prescribe all types of drugs for sleeping and depression, yet, the one drug we need above all these is morphine!!! We are so tired of waiting for help. I believe we need to stand up right now and demand to be heard and treated. We have got to do it soon!!!! I am putting together right now, an entire discussion I had with Alexandra Alger, the writer of the Forbes article. I just had to stop and write to Karen. Karen, no that anytime you need to vent, I will be here and so will the rest of the IAS team!!!! Bless You!
