Rhonda.. that is a loaded question. To open ended to answer.

If you are asking if you will form MORE adhesions by moving around following a surgery...NO! Adhesions are formed from the bodies response to foreign material interabdominal. You can find the etiology of adhesion formation in my June 99 postings in the IAS board. Also, adhesion form within 2 hrs - 48 hrs. following a surgery...they DO NOT conitue to form or spread throughout the abdomen once formed. They are where they are going to be after 48 hours and that is that! No new ones form after that...no adhesions creep through the organs in the abdoman once formed and attached.

Will you hurt if you move aroundalot following surgery. YES! But no due to the adhesion, it would be because tou just had surgery. Even persons who do not form problamatic ahdesion hurt following surgery..and wthey will probabaly hurt more if they move around and are physical following surgery. But it is not neccesarily due to adhesion attachment.

Following an adhesiolysis...can you have adhesion pain in a week or two following that surgery, and could adhesions be the cause of that pain...YES! Again, dependent on the attaxchemtns of the organs involved with adhesions...you can experience thet pain from adhesions that soon after having an adhesiolysis! but will your moving around cause more adhesion or more pain...I don't think so...is after a few weeks the sugical pain subsides and you have a pulling, burning or aching deep with in the abdoman, and all esle appears healed and your DR. says there is no reason for your pain...then you can probably be suffering from the adhesions again...

Can the adhesions that were lysed in an adhesiolysis reform following that surgery...yes, and they probably will...will you form new adhesions ( Denovo ) as a result of that adhesiolysis...probably will..a high probabiity of that! Would you feel more pain from adhesions if that happened then you had before..sure, more adhesions, more attachment sites involved then before, thus more pain. Why hacve an adhesiolysis then, well...if you were in such signifigant pain that you couold not tolerate life...then you get a repreve in your pain...andyou buy a little time until an appropriate effective intervention can be found for ARD...but with each surgery you will probably reform the adhesion, form Denovo adhesions and eventually suffermore from the surgery then before...how long will the repreve of symptoms last...could be as little as a wekk to a year or more...no one knows that..but YOU will!

Hope that helps some..Bev

I would like to know what, if any, kinds of things make adhesions worse. For example, after surgery does moving around make them worse?
