Diagnosis of Adhesions

Hello Everyone,

I have just been reading Dr. David Wiseman's 'Patient's Guide' or 'You Are Not Alone'. I was starting to think I was alone, then I happened along here and still thought I was alone, with all the references to the problems suffered by the females of this world. Then I noticed a gentleman's name on the 'Quilt' and thought that I may be in the right place after all, am I?

I have been attending my doctor for nearly two years now, with pains in my lower right abdomen. It was first diagnosed as a kidney infection and there, subsequently, followed 12 months of investigation of the kidneys and bladder. Nothing was found to be wrong here and the problem seemed to clear up itself. After being admitted to hospital twice in 7 months during 1999, I was seen by a surgical team and I have had more bodily intrusions that I can take no more and more barium than I can stand, with no positive results. I was sent by my employer to see the company doctor yesterday, and he is of the opinion that my pain may be caused by Adhesions (due to the fact I have had three operations in the lower right abdomen during my life).

I did tell the surgeon that the pain felt like the pulling of an elastic band to its extremeties and I now find that some of the pics I have seen today certainly *look* like the pain *feels* (does this make any sense?).

Sorry for the long post, but I feel better already (not).

Thanks, Bob
