Dear Kathy, thank-you for you message, I have a Unstable Bladder (Urge Incontince), which is appartenly due to nerve damage around the bladder. The technique that they use here in Australia, is to surgically expand the bladder to stop the damaged nerves from working, thus you are not getting the urge to go when you don't have too. I get a full body shiver when my bladders being naughty and then I know that I am going to have an accident. I may go a week without having this problem, but then have accidents 5 times a day, its very frustrating and embarrasing. I also have been told to try to hold on as long as possible, I find this very painful and I also get release pain on my bad ARD days. I am sure that the two conditions are related and I am hoping for answers and problem solving when I go in for my next surgery. Thank-you for your input and information Best Wishes Helen Gibson

Helen, I am not sure what you mean by urge incontinence so I hope this is of help to your lady. I had an operation in 95 to separate my ovary, bowels, bladder, appendix, etc. The doc told me that my bladder wall was very thin and was about to burst so they had to fold it over and stitch it. For the next year I had a lot of leaking, even if I coughed I would leak. Then I had a short time maybe 6 months, when I felt alright. Then it came back again, whenever I had something to drink I would have to empty my bladder straight away. The doc advised me to hold it in as long as I could. He said it would make my bladder stronger, but I find it so painful when my bladder is full, that I just can't hold it in. I suspect the adhesions have made my bladder weak again. I hope this is of some help.

Good luck to those contemplating surgery soon. Love Kath
