Stacey,

I am one of the IAS sufferers that Helen Chalmers has helped find a pain specialist. In fact, she and I ...and I believe one other person go to the same doctor in the Northern Virginia area. Today was my first appointment, but I am having my lysis of adhesions done in PA next Thursday the 22 of March. So I am covered in the way of pain treatment if the need arises. He was a very special doctor and understands the treatment and the pain that adhesions can cause.

Anyhow, I only recently found out about adhesions after I had terrible pain for almost a year after my hysterectomy in April of 99, I had a oopherectomy (sp?) July 3rd of last year, emergently...I probably had a a partial obstruction by then, but no one ever mentioned that.

Anyhow, I hope you can find some help in the mean time. I did go to my ER and got the doctor on a "great night" I think he new about the Joint commissions new rules. I got 3 shots of morphine totaling 40 mg within one hour, then he sent me home on the 50 mg duragesic patch. So far that is the only medicine that has truly helped my pain. And this new doctor is keeping me on the patch. So I am happy about that.

I wish you the best, please feel free to write me at kcarter706@aol.com anytime.

In health,

Karen Carter of Virginia
