Sarah, I think you may be in the right place. Have you had previous abdominal surgeries??

There are MANY (I should say, almost all) the people on this board have the same problems. You can read their personal stories on the "Quilt" of the board. It is a make-believe quilt (looks like one) with patches representing everyone that put their stories about their life and ordeals with adhesions and adhesion related diseases (ARD). Just click on "quilt" and then click on anyone's name and it will show their story and some also have added their photo.

There is also alot of information in the links on the board.

It is good if you are having tests done to make sure your problem isn't something else. You must rule other things out first to be safe. Adhesions (scar tissue) don't show on any tests so IF you had prior surgeries AND your tests all turn up negative adhesions then could be your problem.

There are generally alot of people on here to answer any questions although it has been a little quiet this past week, possibly due to nice weather. There is alot of support here. You can also do a search and if you type "Helen Dynda" in the search it will pull up alot of information she posted. You can do this with anything you need info. on like "constipation" etc.

Good Luck, JEAN (from PA)

Quote of the week: "Learn from the mistakes of others........ You can't live long enough to make them all yourself"

Hello, I came across this website by accident and although I am still unsure as to the cause of my problem it seems like a place of support and believe me thats what i need!. About a year ago my bowels stopped working, my doctor rather than find the cause said it was stress and prescribed laxatives despite me stupidly misusing them in the past. One by one my bowels adapted to each drug and now I am on v. strong medication of bisacodyl and docusate, and i usually have to dangerously overdose to get them to work. If I eat anything my whole area from under my breasts down to my bowels swells like im pregnant and I am left in severe pain, thats when im not in severe pain and sickness from the drugs!. I am reduced to eating rice and vegetables now out of fear of reactions and have lost 1 3/4 stone in a month to show for it, not good when i was underweight to start with. I am now seeing a gastroenterologist and he want to do a marker study and flexible sigmoidoscopy and has put me on movicol. I am very frightened and if anyone knows anything more about this or has been through something similar I would really love to hear from you. I apologise if this is not an appropriate site to post on I just feel at the end of my tether. Thankyou
