Dear Gloria,

Thanks for Writing back, I'm real glad you're feeling better. I understand your not wanting to post about pain after surgery, especially for the reasons of not discouraging others, I hope that you will not make a habit of this though!

I am excited to hear the good results from some who have had relief from surgery or barriers, more often though our dratted adhesions tend to reappear. When our pain returns after surgery, and the hope of being forever pain free is squelched, the grief is tremendous, and we need support getting through this.

It is still so early to say with your surgery being so recent, I had surgical pain for 5 weeks this last time, followed by 5 weeks of almost pain-free living, before I knew the adhesions were back and needed pain management again, still since this last surgery, I am better than before.

I am glad you have a doc who is willing to prescribe oxycontin for you, that way, if you do encounter problems in the future, you will have the comfort of knowing that this will be one less battle you have to fight.

I am feeling better being settled. Getting out of my relationship has allowed positive changes to come about, my health has improved, as has my attitude. In my relationship, my illness/pain were not accepted, and were used to keep me "down". What feels good is to seperate myself from my condition, and know that I am not worthless because of it...I no longer have to feel guilt or shame when I hurt or need to rest, in and of itself, this is a huge relief.

Hang in there and try to keep positive thoughts about your recovery.

Love and hugs,

Janet
