Dear Heike:

Well my hysterectomy caused my adhesions so that's all I can say about your doctor telling you to have one (more surgery, possibly more adhesions). Pain management has worked very well for me (if you can find a doctor to treat you with the proper medication). I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful pain specialist that is not afraid to prescribe the amount of medication that it takes to keep me at a comfortable level. I have only had one adhesiolysis, but since the adhesions came back within months, I have opted to not have another surgery until I see the percentages go up with no reformation of adhesions. As long as you can eat, go to the bathroom, and a doctor will prescribe you the medication you need to stay comfortable, pain management may be an option you really want to consider. Some here have had to have surgery after surgery as they cannot find a doctor to help them relieve the amount of pain that they must endure daily (which is a very unfortunate circumstance). You have a very difficult decision to make; you may want to see if you can find a pain specialist first that would be willing to treat you for an indefinite amount of time, and if that is a possibility, and you find you are able to function at a somewhat normal level without terrible pain, you may want to consider staying under pain management for awhile instead of jumping into another surgery. Hope I have helped.

In Friendship,
