I have a dog (just a little one - 105 lbs.). He's real good at trapping cats....does it to ours all the time! He never hurts them.....just catches them. He thought the new puppy was another cat and wouldn't play with him until the puppy barked. Then he got a real surprised look on his face, looked at us and when we told him 'okay', they haven't stopped wrestling! I'm surprised they ever get any sleep.
Can't your vet get a trank gun or something for that feral black cat? I hope you can get rid of him before he hurts more of your 'good' cats.
And yes, there is a cat scratch fever, I was tested for it a few years ago....you know when they were still telling me I was just depressed and just had some minor infection....blah, blah and blah-blah.
