Could anybody tell me where I could find out what my 'rights' are here in NZ?

What I have wanted to find out is "what are my rights as a chronic pain patient - in regards to pain medication, etc, here in NZ?" - I have thought of asking the Human Rights Commissioner - if I can find the site on the internet... numerous times I have tried to find out what my rights are within NZ laws - especially when I've been in hospital - but people have always either ignored my questions, or avoided answering by changing the subject.

I have been reading all of you mentioning that in the USA you've got rights, where could I find that kind of information for New Zealand? Does anybody have any suggestions.

I am afraid that I am heading for a serious conflict with my pain specialist - especially if I have to be hospitalised in the future - and it would help if I knew where I stood legally - I am really afraid that if I should be hospitalised and he finds out how much, and how often I take morphine sulphate - that he will change me back to methadone - and will demand I obey his directions.

Thanks,

Lin
