Someone had asked about any Pain Specialists in Texas. I had this saved in
my filing cabinet which had been forwarded to me from Bev and just came
across it. I don't know anything about the doctor or this clinic, but wanted
to pass this information along. I am not in anyway promoting this clinic or
doctor.
The Texas Tech Medical Center physicians practicing Pain Management are among
the world's best doctors, and they can be of help to you or your family if
you have a problem with pain. The Pain Management Center is an affiliate of
the World Institute of Pain.
When a patient suffers from pain, it can be sudden, after an injury or due to
chronic pain as in arthritis. Whatever the cause, pain decreases the quality
of life and takes a toll on the loved ones who care for the family member.
Recent advances occurring in the specialty of pain medicine have enabled the
pain specialist to deal with pain innovatively and aggressively.
As pain specialists at Texas Tech Medical Center's Pain Management Clinic, we
stay on the leading edge of medical advances and treatment options for pain
management. We direct the only pain fellowship-training program in West
Texas and receive on a weekly basis international doctors who observe our
new, innovative and aggressive techniques in pain management. Our referral
base covers West Texas and neighboring states of New Mexico and Oklahoma. We
also have a network of pain specialists in the United States and around the
world trained at our institution, who refer their difficult cases to us for
further evaluation and treatment.
Diagnosis and treatment of pain in all age groups is our goal. We have a
multidisciplinary team of clinicians who provide specialized services from
the division of anesthesiology, psychology and physical medicine. We also
have consultants from orthopaedics, surgery and oncology (cancer) for a
thorough evaluation of pain problems.

[]> Racz Procedure...
Submitted by ML Whitworth, M.D. on 9/27/99.
Not that new...has been performed for several years in the US. Gabor Racz MD
of Lubbock Texas created the procedure he called "epidural adhesiolysis"
which we lovingly call the Racz procedure. A catheter is placed into the
epidural space ( anterior epidural space in front of the spinal cord ) and
scar tissue is lysed both physically and chemically.
I did one just today and average one every two weeks.
