The answer is Yes, it can be, but first you should rule out other possibilities. Have you had a colonoscopy? What about a blood check for elevated white blood cell counts? Have you seen a gastroenterologist?

What you're describing can very well be from adhesions, but it can also be from a number of other issues, as well. It's best to positively rule out all other issues with non-invasive tests (a colonoscopy isn't really non-invasive, but it doesn't cause more scarring) just be sure.
