Angela,

I don't know if I am going to write what you want to hear. Your doctor probably did the best thing for you by not proceeding. Having a hysterectomy is not going to eliminate the adhesions. In fact, it is probably the adhesions that are causing whatever reason you have for wanting to have a hysterectomy. Each surgery you have increases your adhesion formation.

As far as the best surgeon? Unfortunately, it appears that we are not going to have any of the best surgeons in this country. Our system that forces doctors to carry a huge amount of malpractice insurance for longer surgeries is going to force these doctors to stop doing adhesiolysis procedures. It may even force them overseas. At this time I would say Dr. Harry Reich from the adhesion center in Scranton, Pennsylvannia is the only "expert" in this country. I do not know how available he will be for future surgeries but it would be worth the try. Unfortunately, there are some negatives there because of insurance. Money is expected up front....our insurance has an established rate that they will pay for each adhesiolysis procedure...it won't go any higher...yet this doctor very meticulously removes the adhesions and has an established procedure for doing it. Many of his procedures have lasted up to 10 hours. Search the archives of this site for information on Dr. Harry Reich.

As far as everything else goes, at this time we are only aware of one other doctor in this world that is having good results and is even using the new Spray Gel which has so much promise...that would be Dr. Matthias Korell in Germany. You can search the site for information on him as well. Actually, while you think it might be very expensive it only costs $6,000 to $6,500 including everything...and that would involve at least a 2 week stay. That probably would be less than what you have to pay for Dr. Reich. It also includes the cost of your airfare.

Do not, DO NOT get into having surgery on your bladder. I lost my bladder to all of this. It is not a good situation. Please read my story on the quilt.

Good luck.

Karla
