Gail,

Of course your pain is real!! We have all been told the same thing. It is up to you as to how you proceed. If they are going to need to do surgery insist on having it done laprascopically. It is the least likely to cause additional adhesions. If you can avoid the surgery...and I would recommend you do this at all costs unless it is a medical emergency and pain is not..then you will need to seek out management for your pain. Please research this website: http://www.adhesions.org and educate yourself to this disease. If you search into the archives specifically look for information written by Helen Dynda (just enter her name in the search). She has done a wonderful job providing all the information one could possibly want and giving us the web addresses for that information. Please also take the time to read all of the stories on the quilt. You will quickly learn why you need to avoid surgery. Please read my story. I don't need to say anymore than that. Once you have researched the site print up the information that you find and take it with you to your next appointment. Educate your doctor as you educate yourself. You have the right to receive the appropriate treatment including for pain. There is a sight out there that you can visit to learn your rights regarding that treatment. Do what they tell you to do...it works. http://www.asappain.com

I am not sure, but something I read in your email tells me you are having a lot of incisional pain. I could be wrong, but I want to forward to you information I received from Bev regarding intertissal pain. I think it may apply in your case. If not, let it go in one ear and out the other. It will be the next email I post.

God Bless!

Karla
