Re: small bowel obstruction

I am a 78 year old woman. Colon cancer surgery in 1993. 5 bouts of PARTIAl small bowel obstruction in the first 2 years following surgery. Minor bouts (NOT requiring hospitalization) from time to time, but suffered the worst one two weeks ago. Hospitalized with IV, NG tube, and once again it was PARTIAL, and discharged from hospital.

Surgeon suggested laporascopic surgery before it happens again. I'm frightened. Not offered a better quality of life because I can get OTHER adhesions.

Is there any suggested diet that could help prevent adhesions?

Any information you can provide me with would be most appreciated. I live in North New Jersey area. Near Englewood and Hackensack hospitals. If you know of any laporascopic surgeons in the area who SPECIALIZE in this area, would appreciate that info also.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer me.
