Hi Rita, I work for the State of Nevada and we don't really have very good benefits. We can get Short term disablity insurance if we pay for it, which I just recently found out about!! I think they are going to put me on a medical leave of absence now. It's just that when I have used up all my Family Medical Leave Act FMLA that this is what protects me from getting fired, and now that it is almost used up I am really no longer protected by law...At first they tried to tell me I could have the medical leave its just that after my surgery I would have to return at four weeks and no light duty. Which I know and they know that I am going to have a laprotomy, be hospitalized for 5 days, that the Dr will probably not release me to full duty in 4 weeks. And if I go over the 4 weeks they would file a "Separation of Duty" for me. And I could have my job back but I would have to wait until the next opening...which is crap....But like I said now they have said I could have the medical Leave of absence, just need my doctor to write a detailed letter explaining everything...Of course this was last week and things may change this week, who knows... Well I guess enough whinning for today. Kingman is not too far from Vegas, maybe if you ever make it over here, give me a call and we could do lunch or something. Take care, Your friend, Tami
