Dear Fellow Ard Sufferers this is a lengthy but I feel much needed article i have written and am sending out to SEVERAL places. If any of you want to use any of this context you are welcome to. THE BATTLE GROUND OF ARD For over 17 years I seemed to be going to Dr. after dr. with neverending tests to no avail, as the results would always turn out negative. My body was continuosly putting up red flags, via severe bloating, obstructions, spasms, relentless chronic pain, plus a continual pulling, tugging, twisting agony inside my abdomen. I was called the "MYSTERY PATIENT" by many medical proffesionals and sent out into the cold without help.

In 1995 my GYN took me in for a Hysterectomy and found that my uterous was embedded like cocrete, at which time I finally found out my nightmare had a name; ADHESIONS.

In the following 2 years I remained ill and underwent 2 more operations for new adhesions that had attached and wrapped around my stomach, lver and encased my entire intestinal system, which also attached to my bladder as well as other areas. My 3rd adhesion removal had to be done 1,200 miles away with a specialist as to get better quality care and better cleaning out of the adhesions, which took 5 hours, numerous internal hernias were found, which are secondary from adhesions. This specialist said " It is a Russion Roulette as it is most likely you will have more problems".

My case frustrated surgeons especially, as they would apply barrier, iy would not work and I fell more ill than I was before. Walking, sitting, doing any activity was very short lived as the massive pain and continual infection (also secondary to the kinking of the bowel) would incapacitate my daily exsistance, to the point where i was, and still am in bed alot.

However, every Dr. that I encountered, would read my previous reports, but they still would not treat my pain and other symptoms because the old rule of thumb woyld apply- " If they cannot see, feel, or touch pain, it does not exist", or ADHESIONS DONOT HURT!

What a controversial issue this has become among the medical professionals, as in my research i have found some MD'S. on the other side of the coin, who believe in listening to their patients because we know our bodies best although it is extremely hard to find one to actually help without going thousands of miles.
