Was in ER this afternoon

First, I still need to set my preferences to NO EMAIL! Its filling up my box way too quickly. A simple explanation is appreciated.

Second....

I have strep throat. Went to the dr. Monday and found out. I had had a fever of 103 Sunday. I got a prescription for penecillin and filled it Monday.

Then Monday night (last night) I was up all night throwing up. Not to gross anybody out but I didn't get more than a few minutes' rest because of it.

So this morning I was laying in bed with my stomach still killing me and I called the dr's office and the nurse says to take little sips of water and if that doesn't stay down to call back. "Jennifer, if you don't do that..."- you know that awful tone of voice!- "...you'll land yourself in the E.R...." Well that got me thinking. So I told Jonathan I needed to go. So that's where we went.

I got a wheelchair and there I was looking completely pathetic- hair pinned up, in huge sweatpants, a t-shirt, no bra, hugging my squishy pillow that I'd brought from home.

When I got my "room" (which was nearly right away), they took my pulse etc. again and it was really fast. I got an IV of fluids and also ended up getting a 2nd bag. A nurse came by and gave me some phenegren (sp?) and boy was that good stuff! Its an anti-nausea drug and wow it just knocked me right out. I slept for 2 hours solid. I think they took my vitals and such in that time and I didn't even notice. The light was on, I was in a hospital ER bed and such so you know I was knocked out. At least I had my own pillow. They also had given me a blanket before this knock-out stuff. I had been reading a magazine about Maine and looking at all the adds for log cabin kits.... Anyway, my mom had called there cuz dh had taken the kids to the mall where my mom works and told her what was going on and all sorts of things went on while I just slept some of the best sleep ever for 2 hours.

They finally decided I was hydrated enough to be sent home at 6. So I'm to do the liquid diet thing- flat pop, broth, popsicles- and keep taking my meds. I can't tell you how nice it was to just be there where it was completely quiet- aside from the usual din of an ER- be left alone essentially and rest! Maybe its my start in life as a preemie that makes me so comfortable in such settings, or maybe just the lack of chaos that is my normal life.

Just thought I'd update you. Gonna check a few more things and watch some tv. Dh has tomorrow off work too. I hope to maybe eat some real food tomorrow. We'll see.
