Thank You Candy for your reply. I have a very patient Primary Care Physician who has been very good to me but I think he worries about prescribing the pain meds, for his own sake. We've had lots and lots of pain med abuse in my area. Mainly several deaths from Oxycontin, so it has really not helped us who need pain meds for legitimate reasons. I also really wish I did not need them so I try to be tough, but I end up right back on the couch and it's really starting to get me down not being able to do much other than work. I think my PCP will want me to see a pain specialist because he's mentioned it before. I have seen a Pain psychologist (which insurance did not cover and it was a pretty big chunk of money out of my pocket). He ok'd me to get at least 3 Vicoprofen a day for pain but that was before my hyst. Question for you: You said you had flank pain, did it get worse with activity? Did it feel like adhesions to you? Like pulling and such? And did it hurt really bad after a large bowel movement? Is your pain better after your surgery? Sorry so many questions but it's had to find anyone who has had flank pain that wasn't kidney related. I was prescribed Lotronex a couple of years ago after a Colonoscopy for IBS, that was before they removed it from the market. I really think I had a bowel obstruction as I did not have a B.M. for about 10 days and so I took a laxative. Oh my God, I thought I was going to have to call 911 sitting on the toilet. I was hurting so bad in that area of my back that hurts. I called my brother crying and he talked me through just trying to calm down and waiting. Finally after about 30 minutes in serious, serious pain, my bowels moved. I probably should have called 911, but I rested a couple of days and I was ok. Does any of this sound familiar? Does it sound like adhesions? I do not have an internist. I might see if my PCP will refer me to one... I don't want to just settle for being in pain the rest of my life without knowing whether there are other options. Did your internist think your adhesions will come back? Thanks for the prayers.
