Cheryl, I just wanted you to know that I have had cystoscopies done in the doctor's office a number of times. They have a room set-up specifically for that....it looks like an operating room. Some times my procedures have been done with no medication and others have had the benefit of "twilight" medication. Those that I have been awake for, without medication, have not been all that painful. I remember having the feeling of pressure, which can be uncomfortable, but very little pain. My suggestion to you is to anticipate that there will be pain...but don't worry or obsess over it. Then, when you go through the procedure either you are prepared for the pain or you don't experience what you expected. Either way, you will feel much better in the end having been prepared. That's kind of how I advice people when they are considering going into the military. Expect basic training to be the most awful thing they have ever experienced. Know that it is going to be awful. Going in with those expectations made it much easier for me. I absolutely loved basic training because it was not the awful experience that I had been expecting. I use this experience in dealing with a lot of things in my life and it has never failed to help me. I realize that there is a big difference between basic training and a medical procedure, but the process works the same. Hope this helps a bit. Love,

Karla
