Hi Karen,

As a mother of small children, I cannot imagine what you have been through. Your story is an inspiration on one hand and very sad on the other. An inspiration because you worked so hard to help your daughter and you found the help she needed. Sad because, for all our country has to offer, women are still treated as though they are hysterical beings.

I don't believe you are overzealous when telling your daughter's story and the emotional pain you have endured through trying to help her. You sound like a woman who took the bull by the horns and did what had to be done. This is admirable!! And while going to Germany isn't an option for all of us, for those that it is an option, we should be celebrating! With the success stories, we have more fuel to add to our fire here in our country to get the medical community to understand and start working to help those suffering!

For me, I have appreciated how you understand that being told IBS is more of a slap in the face than help. It's not that I doubt anyone who suffers from this disorder, I just don't feel you go under for surgery WITHOUT IBS and wake up with it. I don't know or understand why doctors who have much more education than I can believe that to be true either.

Thank you Karen for your wit, your understanding and your support. It means a lot for those of us that don't even have a regular doctor and never get to see the same doctor twice. It often seems no one understands, but coming here and knowing that you and others here do is a blessing!
