Pain Doc?

Hi Everyone. I have frequented this website and have found a lot of your

information helpful. I do have a question, more a concern. I have been seeing

a pain specialist for about 6 months now. When I first met him he seemed very

stand offish, I just thought it was his mannerisms. I started getting

injections in my spine for, what I thought was pain control. Hasn't done much.

I was told it would probably be 2 or 3 injections before I noticed a change.

I am going onto my 5th injection with no releif. Last week I was very sick

with pain. I am currently taking 40mgs of OxyContin 2x daily. I also have a

lot of breakthrough pain which hasn't been addressed. ( I have tried to speak

with this doc about controlling the breakthrough pain, but he either forgets

or, what it seems to me, ignores me. When I go in to the clinic for my

procedure, noone talks to you, I feel like I am on an assembly line, I know

that they're not there to be my best friend, but heck at least aknowledge my

presence. Not to mention that the communication between the doc and answer

ing service is practically nil to none.( they tell me he doesn't like to

be paged, what doc has a service and doesn't want to be bothered??) Now I am

getting ready to go on vacation, trying to get my refill because I will not be

in state when I am due, also trying to get possible breakthrough medicine.

I called 2 hours ago and noone has bothered to return my call , there office

is closed tomorrow and thursday, and I leave early friday morning. What can

one do in this situation? Any advice? Should I start looking for a new doc?

Do these seem like red flags to any of you? It took me a long time to find a

pain doc, and now I am getting the raw end all over again, not to mention the

fact that if I don't have the medication, possibly withdrawals, am I right?

Any advice would be great, sorry this is so long. Thanks in advance.

Yours, Natasha..:o)
