I also have an extensive surgical history resulting in a failed colonscopy due to adhesions. In my case the bowel was frozen and scarred down and it was difficult to advance the scope with out the risk if perforating the bowel. So they aborted the test and told me NO more colonoscopy's. I am not sure if your adhesions were found inside the bowel or were problematic for the Dr. from being on the outside of your bowel. It is a wonder they did not order a barium enema. Sounds like your going to be scheduled for an Upper GI and small bowel follow thru.

I went for a colonoscopy Friday and the doctor said he wasn't able to do it because adhesions were blocking the bowel.
