Weight gain and IBS symptoms

I can no longer tollerate physical exercise anymore due to adhesions. I used to run 6 miles a day and have since put on 50 pounds. My doctors won't do any more surgery because I have not had significant problems such as bowel obstruction and they don't want to risk that with further surgery. I do suffer from chronic pain and sever IBS symptoms though.

Has anyone heard of LapBand surgery to address the weight and ease IBS symptoms. I talked to someone would said since there are no staples and it is the least invsive form of gastric bybass, the limiting of food that can consumed helped them with pain from eating (she said her IBS symptoms are almost completely gone because they were caused by nerve disruption from adhesions) and helped maintain a healthy weight.

Just wondering if anyone ahs heard of this as an option.
