HI Linda, I think you are right about the use the spaygels, I have had 3 surgery's for adhesions all without any barrier, # 4 surgery in 07 I had a very lg ins hernia a 8x4 mesh was put in just under the ribs this had a adhesion barrier with it, it has not worked and the adhesions are back in full force it feels like a rubber band pulling, I have heard bad stories about these meshes and many people have had them removed, I do not know what is happening today so many people are getting adhesions after surgery, age makes no difference, I had abd surgery,5 in all the last one was 1984, with no problems. My feeling is that some Drs are to heavy handed + to many ops in one day, also the use of to much CO2.,this also my cause adhesions to form + maybe saline, It would be great if the gel was used as the norm with all Drs no matter were we live,to have this on the doorstep would save on the travelling which can be hell and it would stop the suffering, also the Drs would be more helpful knowing their is help out there. The last time I went to my G.P, he gave me no hope,I said to him what can I do now, all he said do your own research and keep takeing the pills.
