My insight , into the Pit of hell or should I say the Medical Profession

I am a 54 year old female of short stout little over weight and a very heavy smoker, Over the years of my life starting at the age of 17 I underwent numerous open abdominal surgeries.  All but the last three there wasn't even an option for the procedures to be done Laparoscopy.

With this in mined I now suffer from adhesion related disordered.

Adhesions are bands of scar-like tissue that form between two surfaces inside the body. Alternative Names Pelvic adhesion; Intraperitoneal adhesion; Intrauterine adhesion Causes Inflammation, surgery, or injury can cause tissues to bond to other tissue or organs, much like the process of forming scar tissue. Sometimes, adhesions can form between the two surfaces.

My first experience with adhesions is when I had to have emergency surgery in 1982 to have both my ovaries removed.  Years prior to this diagnosis I had suffered a lot of pain and unusual systems, but to know avail the ovaries ruptured.  Surgery lasted 7 hours due to the dense amount of adhesions.  This was the first time I ever heard of adhesions.

>>From the year 1982 to 2005 I have suffered bowel problems, intentional
and bladder problems, never any answers to what my aliment was, Just a female.  In 2005 I went to a surgeon on my own, After a lot of research on the subject and he agreed (which most do not) that I was full of adhesions.  Open operation to have the adhesions removed.  But every time you are opened adhesions start to grow before you wake up the next morning.

This gave me two years before I suffered a complete bowel obstruction. They were back and completely wrapped around my bowel, had to have resection of my bowel.

I never recovered from this operations.

In and out of every ER in Lancaster and Hershey.  Every kind of doctor. Sometime put in the hospital on heavy drugs and ng tube down my nose etc.  Totally frustrated and very sick and most of these last two years in extreme pain.

I have been made to endure verbal abuse by doctors and nurses Physical abuse - one hospital guards physical picked me up and threw me on the floor, Yes by this time I was a crazy woman and they want me to committed myself no way.  I did pass all there tests so they could not commit me. Accused of being a drug addict. Family and friends pulled away from me after all the medical professions said there is nothing wrong and we can do nothing for you.  So I must like the drugs and attention.  Well the attention was great I spent days upon days in bed all by myself.

I had to end this some how, some way.  Started doing research upon research.  Learn there was actually a International Adhesions Society. Found out that there was real Doctors out that believed everything you told.  February 2008 and went to see one of these specialist who was going to help me just to have my Insurance company say no.  There wasn't a medical problem.  So for one more year I let myself go from on er to the other, The pain would get so bad you just had to go.  You get a Cat Scan, the pain meds told every thing was ok.  March of this year I had a Cat scan done was told it was normal, I just new it wasn't.  I sent it to the specialist and he called to say I'd like to know who read this You have a hernia.  I now needed that same radiologist to re-look at it and change his finding so I have the right papers for the insurance company.  Just to add a little bit more humor here this same er called my daughter 2 days after she was there to tell a the radioliist just review her tests and she need to have her appendixes out ASAP.  How interesting it was removed 5 years ago.

I had my surgery performed IN Wilkes-Barre PA by Clark D.  Gerhart, MD, FCAS is a board certified general surgeon and fellow of the American College of surgeons.  In practice since 1995 , he specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery.  This type of surgery uses small holes in the body instead of large cuts which produce much less injury to the body.  The result is less pain, smaller scars and quicker recovery. Using the latest spray gel for allowing the organs to heal before sticking together.  There are several different barries available to promote healing and retard the growth of adhesions.  To date there is know cure.  But there are Specialist there for you and you alone must help yourself.  I have know way of knowing how long I will be pain free, but I due know that should thay return I know what to do.
