Dear Cyndy: So nice to read your letter. I, too am a sufferer who can identify with you regarding doctors saying it is "all in your head" or "you just have to think of something else". I hope you know that all pain management doctors and psychs do not have relatives in chronic pain. If they did, they would not respond in this manner. Also, unfortunately, we DO have to learn to live with the pain to which, I am not doing such a good job of. I do wish I COULD ignore my pain or transfer it to another place or think happy thoughts but that is just not possible when you are in serious pain. I went to a new person recommended to me in New York that is supposed to have this new procedure and is a specialist in this field only to be told that my case is severe and my surgery would be very complicated and dangerous as well as probably not successful (for survival of the surgery or success of procedure). With those odds in hand, the surgery was not performed. I am now with another pain management group that seems to be compassionate - - time will tell, yet I am still in serious pain and had to come back to work because my disability checks were so small from work, we could not make ends meet. I tell you, I should win the "Betty Davis Oscar for an Outstanding Performance of a Normal Person" because I have to act like I am not in pain all day to keep people off of me. Talk about acting!!! Well, you can write to me anytime you feel like it if you don't want to go "public" with something. Take care, Laura.

Dear Chris: My name is Cyndy...I have been an adhesion suffer for 10 years...I am 39 years old and have had 21 abdominal surguries for.....many problems not even related to the adhesions....but for the last 10 years I have been looking for an answer to this problem....I am now seeing a doctor at UCLA in california...he just treats the problem with pain meds...I have a 18 year old and a 14 year kids....they have been going through this along with my husband and they just want their mom to be PAIN FREE..I am very ashamed to say last week my 18 year old son got me a wheel chair and we took my 14 daughter to Universal Studios for the first time in her life...she has never gone to Disney land or any amusement park....I am just not able to go do things because I am in Pain all the time.... My husband and I have done alot of homework...on this subject...We found a doctor who is doing alot of work with Barriers....and adhesions...I am alittle afraid....of that because I am not sure of the long term benifits versus the quality of life I have now...I am on Disabilty from work....and very fustrated........ I have been reading all the postings people are writing and decided to write myself....I am so glad that there are others out there like myself I am so,so tired of Doctors saying, "YOU MIGHT HAVE TO JUST LIVE WITH THIS...." I wonder if they (the doctors) have to LIVE every day like we do with severe pain...If the doctors would like to "JUST LEARN TO LIVE WITH IT..." Well I for one am very glad this forum is here and my husband truely enjoyed the one letter from the spouse.....

KEEP ON "HANGING IN THERE" thanks Cyndy
