Just my two cents....When I had a barium enema recently, it was no fun...but I didn't think it was too awful. Hated the bowel prep and the grumpies that come with being off of food. I had a very nice doc who encouraged me to watch the screen and see everything that he was seeing. At first I thought he was wacky...but then I started watching out of the corner of my eye...and then I started really watching and found it all quite interesting. It hurt a lot less when I had the distraction of watching the screen and participating on that level of the test. I appreciated the skill the doc showed in getting me involved. I was hungry, weak, and in a most compromised position and somehow he was willing to take the time and effort to dignify the whole process by not only completing the test but by educating me about what was going on at the same time. Gotta love it when we get that kind of treatment! Mary
