my tale of woe

As you know I am new to the site.

I do have the access to a pain management team. Stonybrook anethesia Pain clinic. I was very hopful when I was sent there in Dec 2000. The first words from the mouth of my primary md there was "Don't give up hope" .However, I feel that since I was sent there that all efforts to find the cause of my constant pain have been haulted. I have "only" had an MRI, a Sonogram, a Cystoscopy, and a Sigmoidoscopy. noone has actually looked at my "guts".

Unfortunately for me I have "issues" that as time goes on and situations occur only get worse. I have been under the care of a psychiatrist due to the opinion of my 1st set of MDs that the pain was due to psych issues. I have taken all of the pills that have been prescribed. The only thing they managed to due was cause nausea, headaches, and a day I cannot remember because of an interaction error.

Anything that has been suggested, I have tried. If i was told that hanging from my left nipple from the closeline in january would do it. I would try it. I guess I am having a very difficult time as I do not feel comfortable going to work taking narcotics, and quite frankly I require alotof narcotics to do the job. 50mcg Duragesic patch and 4mg Dilaudid q 4hrs to have adeqaute pain relief. And my work is my life.

I have 6 kids that expect to be chaufferred here and there and they just don't understand the fact that mom is legally loaded. I am not comfortable doing it, so I forgo pain relief for peace of mind. My darling hubby is less than supportive. and to say he tells me I am making more of things than they are is a mild understatement. It should also be know that he works the evening shift, leaving me with the bulk of the child and house hold duties. I have asked him on more than one occasions to please change shifts, and Im told that we can't afford to have the decrease in pay. Evidently he doesn't realize that I have been out of work for the past 7 weeks without a paycheck.

I had been using a continuous epidural pump. carried my pump with me everywhere I went that was wonderful. However, I kept developing site infections at the insertion site. So I would go from being essentially numb from the butt to navel to having the 100% pain back when it was removed. That my friends is a bad trip.

I still have hope that I have some adhesions around a nerve or my l ovary that if released will bring some relief, I just need to find an MD willing to open me up with a regional anesthesia and I should be on the road to happy land.

If anyone has a kind and compassionate MD near LOng Island Please let me know. My hubby won't even go into Manhattan, it's too far. And I'm hitting the opiates so I'm not driving these days.
