Bobbi, The kind of Epidurals for pain don't numb you from the waist down. It is a different one than they use for childbirth.

I had 3 Epidurals in my back for pain and they gave me Versed-sp? (amnesia drug) so I don't remember anything at all except sitting on edge of table hunched over and next thing I woke in recovery. Not all doctors give the Versed but would do the procedure the same way and would give you something to numb the area before administering the epidural injection. It only takes a few minutes to do.

The only way it could affect walking would be if they hit the wrong area like a nerve leading to the legs which is unlikely. They usually monitor it on a screen as they do it so they get the right area.

I am confused about the "keeping it in" since it is just an injection, nothing permanent inserted unless you are talking about something totally different.

A Morphine Pump is the only thing I know that stays in, but not just for a week.

Good Luck with your injections or whatever it is. JEAN

Dear Jo, Thanks for writing, I don't really understand this procedure that he wants to do, he says he is trying to get the adhesions unloose from the abdominal wall, he said if this doesn't work then I would have n choice but to have another surgery. My last surgery was just in July of this year. I have never heard of this kind of treatment myself, so I thought I would look to ya'll as usual for advice. They were suppose to call me either yesterday or today to set up an appointment for the epidural, I've never had one so don't know what to expect from that either, I thought that they made you numb from the waist down if that's the case how will I be able to walk since I have to keep it in for a week? Thanks for being so concerened, I just don't know what to do. Love & Hugs, Bobbi
