You did the right thing.... venting is exactly what this board os for. The financial pressure is something most of us deal with too, you are right it is hard with kids and you have the right to feel upset...just holler at us all you want, get it out.... it REALLY does help.
As for practical advice, I don't know anything about your social security system, but I know that there are those on the board who can help you there. Helen Chalmers, Helen Dynder and Bev Doucette might be able to offer you some more advice there.
You are in my thoughts and prayers, yes it is tough, hang in there Brenda, we are all in it together....
