I'm sort of old and sort of new here. I went to see my gyn a week ago from this past Friday. After being passed around from doctor to doctor, he sounded all gung-ho about trying to help me with the adhesion problem along with a prolapsed everything. All this I have been trying to get taken care of since April so I could get it done before school starts back for me in the fall which is now in less than 2 weeks. My gyn was feeling that my bowels maybe had a kink in them... again. So I had a CT with contrast on Tuesday last week and was supposed to have a lower bowel series on THursday but nothing had moved in my bowels. So I got the report from the CT. It said I had a kidney stone in the kidney and a cyst on my left ovary. I about fell out of my chair when I read that one. I had a complete hysterectomy in June of 2000. THey took out everything! So I called my doctor's office who told me that they were not going with those reports, because he was really concerned with the lower bowel series. I figured there was some sort of mistake. Friday I woke up doubled over in pain. I called my gyn's office to get his nurse telling me that it wasn't a gynelogical problem and I should call my pain management doc or my PCP. I kept aking her why because I had seen my gyn a week ago and he ordered these tests. She just kept saying it wasn't a gynelogical problem so I would have to call another doctor. I said, "So you are telling me that he doesn't intend on helping me?" And she said well we have to get the rest of you series back but it is not a gynelogical problem. I asked her how would I know if I had a bowel obstruction. She wouldn't even tell me that. She just told me to call another doctor. I was so upset. My hubby came home and took me to the ER. I knew it was pain that felt different than the normal adhesion pain I have everyday. The ER doctor ran another CT and an ultrasound which both showed I am the proud owner of an ovary with a cyst! I saw it on the ultrasound machine clear as day before the tech said anything. In fact I asked her what that was. And I could see the cyst too. The cyst is not big at all and should not be causing me more pain. More than likely it was because I am full of *&$@%! They didn't know what to do for me. I had an ER doctor, Internal Medicine doctor, and a nurse asking me what I wanted for pain. I told them I didn't know. They were the doctor's they should decide. They were going to admit me, give me something to move the bowels, call a GI doctor, and my gyn. I told them I could do a laxative at home and I would see my gyn on Monday. I really wished I had stayed because I have been in too much pain. I already have a small pharmacy in my house. I really want to be off all this junk. My gyn is in disbelief that I have an ovary. He thinks maybe some tissue from my ovary was left and grew. The chances of that were about 1 in about million, but I have proved them wrong in other cases as well. Whatever the case it doesn't appear to be a functioning ovary except for the cyst. My gyn is going to talk with Dr. Gerhart and if there is no way that we can get me to have surgery through him then my gyn will do it with a general surgeon. I am praying for Dr. Gerhart route though, even if I have to wait until Christmas, which is what it looks like it will be anyway. As for my tummy, it is seeming like I will have to drink more fluids than eat. I don't want to get hooked on laxatives. I already take enough medications as it is. I guess I am rambling here. I hope you are all feeling great and are pain free. I am sorry this is so long. I just thought I would share it. It is strange! I have an ovary!
