OMG this is music to my ears. I AM HERE IN MINNEAPOLIS! And I was thinking I would have to go to Ohio or Florida.

I had surgery in 2006 for pain in my lower abdomen and to remove my gall bladder. He did find a hernia and sewed it up with dissolvable thread. It wasn't 9 months until I started having huge problems. Serious pain, they thought it was diverticulitus. Gave me a medication that completely closed all my sphincters in my body. This effectively shut down my liver and created the worst pain of my life. I went to the ER who observed something wrong coming out of my liver, gave me morphine for pain and sent me home with instructions to go to the surgical center at Creighton in Omaha NE (I lived in Iowa at the time). So I drive over there the next day, obviously the pain meds had worn off and was in extreme pain. They ganged up on me and started ridiculing me, accusing me of faking, wanting drugs, and completely humiliated me for almost an hour before taking blood and again leaving me in the waiting room. Once the blood tests came back there were lots of apologies because my liver enzymes were in the 1,000's and I was immediately placed on the liver transplant floor. It was discovered I had Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction (SOD) and would need a sphincterotomy. I found a terrific Dr in Minneapolis and came up for the surgery. Afterwards, I felt terrific. The best I had felt in a long time. This all happened in 2007, in the fall of 2008 the pain was back with a vengeance. I started seeing Dr's in October, by December I wasn't able to work. I went through 3 ER's with horrible pain, blockages, throwing up and all the typical symptoms of Adhesions. The first surgeon I ended up with suspected I had endometriosis and sent me to a GYN who gave me a shot to stop all hormone production, never mind I had been in menopause for 2 years. They said I was too young and without my medical records from Iowa they didn't believe me. Told me to wait 3 months, it didn't matter that I couldn't work. They even documented in my records how I asked for pain relief and how they made it clear I was "seeking pain drugs". OH GREAT! Once I obtained a copy of my records and saw that I realized they would not help me. I then found another surgeon who thought that perhaps since the hernia surgery I had had in 2006 was performed with dissolveable stiches, then it made since it could have ripped open. So he scheduled surgery for NY Eve, I spent Christmas alone while my family traveled back to Iowa as I was in too much pain to ride in a car for 6 hours. I had surgery, all he found was adhesions, my entire uterus is stuck to my abdomenal wall and my bladder. So everything I did caused severe pain. He cut them and said they would come back. OK, so now it is March and I'm once again in pain. I had talked to Dr S in Ohio about going there, but if there is someone in Minneapolis, my insurance would cover me. I just had to share my story and tell you how much you have made my day. I am a CPA and have been working a ton of hours lately, so I haven't followed the digest as close as I usually have, so I missed that your surgery was done here in Minneapolis. Who is your pancreatic specialist? Is it Dr Freeman? He is wonderful for that.

So, maybe I will be next?????!!!!!! Calling him on MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Juli
