Hello Helen, I took amitritiline myself for 8 years, for clinical depression. It did help me sleep now that I think about it. It also made me gain about 40+ pounds, made me crave sweets, and took me a year to wean off the stuff. I went without drugs for several years then when my Mom died, back came the depressin this time in the form of migraines and insomnia. So I agreed to the trazadone in a non-clinical dose (100 mgs) at bedtime and it has worked great til my recent surgery. Now it doesn't work anymore and I think it's hormone related since the big difference now is my ovaries are gone. The migraines and insomina are back even though I am still taking the trazadone. The doc even tried upping it to 150 mgs. and that didn't help. I also tried wellbutrin during day with trazadone at night and it didn't help. Now they want me to try remeron, so I was hoping to find some info from people who actually used it, so I'd know what to expect with it. Thanks, Gina
